On behalf of the MÉTCOR Board of Directors and staff, I’d like to welcome you to our new website. This initiative is part of our re-branding process, to provide a new look and reinforce our new vision for an active and successful economic development corporation. I hope you find this new webpage informative and interesting.
MÉTCOR is the economic development arm of the North Slave Métis Alliance. NSMA is the organization that represents the political and economic interests of the Métis people who are indigenous to this region; that is that group of Métis who can trace their ancestry to the Métis people who used and occupied this region of the north since the days before the treaty process started. Métis people accompanied the first European explorers, traders, and travelers into the region. Many stayed behind, and became an integral part of the communities, posts, forts, and settlements that were established here. It is these people who are our ancestors.
MÉTCOR’s main objective is to take advantage of the economic opportunities that are available to maximize the benefit to our members from the activity in our region, especially in the diamond mining sector. To achieve that objective MÉTCOR partners with good companies to create well managed profitable enterprises that employ members and other northerners, that provide training and contracting opportunities, and that allow NSMA to provide scholarships and support the education and personal development of our members. Features we have added to the page include a job board, where you can find information about any postings we have active, and where you can contact us to provide your resume. We are always looking for employees for our various ventures, so be sure you check it out.
We have also added a Métis Business Listing. We invite everyone to post their contact information and add your name to our business listing. The more we know who the businesses are that are out there the better job we can do to support each other.
